Recently I viewed a makers' website slideshow and I found it to be impressive.  Seven female entrepreneurs lifted up the big mistakes or failures that actually moved them forward to success.  The slideshow title was termed Fail Fast - meaning, admit mistakes quickly - no languishing; instead, move on and be proud that you tried and gave it your best.  But (and this is a big but), don't let failure immobilize you or prevent  you from ,moving forward, risking again, and walking the edge again.  It is important to understand the learning power of failure.

In 2013, I had the opportunity to attend a three-day leadership academy. The attendees were law librarians from around the country. Over the three days, attendees bonded with one another, performed hands on exercises, determined their leadership styles, and learned how to effectively communicate and motivate others.

Governor Cuomo announced his “2015 Opportunity Agenda” designed to restore economic opportunity, reform the education system, and restore the public’s confidence and trust in our justice system.

The Women’s Equality Act, first introduced in the New York State Legislature in 2013, has several provisions, all of which are in keeping with our legislative platform and advocacy statement, in that they would redress the injustices, inequities and discrimination that women face throughout their lives.

Every day, millions of women and girls worldwide experience violence. This abuse takes many forms, including intimate physical and sexual partner violence, female genital mutilation, child and forced marriage, sex trafficking, and rape.

From shops and restaurants that showcase the talents of entrepreneurs to innovative companies that bolster local economies, small businesses define our neighborhoods and towns.

Glenda Gephart of the Elmira Star-Gazette was named the 2014 Woman of the Year by the Southern Finger Lakes Women at their October meeting.

There have been a number of reports and articles recently written regarding sexual assault in the military.  The Department of Defense, Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office http://www.sapr.mil/ released a November 30, 2014 report to the President regarding Sexual Assault Prevention and Response.  As a result of the report, the Secretary of Defense released a December 3, 2014 memorandum on initiatives being taken regarding the prevention of and response to sexual assault.  The report and memo can be found under the News section.
