In New York, on average, a woman working full time is paid $40,584 per year, while a man working full time is paid $49,174 per year. This creates a wage gap of $8,590 between full-time working men and women in the state.

The NY Grace LeGendre Endowment Fund, Inc. is pleased to announce its 2014 Fellowship Awardees.

Today, in recognition of National Equal Pay Day, the President signed two executive actions to prevent workplace discrimination and empower workers to be more informed in pay negotiations.

March 5, 2014 - The New York Women’s Equality Coalition applauds the Assembly’s passage of new legislation to improve access to child care subsidies and establish paid family leave in New York State.  Led by Assembly Speaker Silver and the Assembly’s Workgroup on Child Care, the Assembly passed the legislation this afternoon. These bills complement the Women’s Equality Act and work in tandem to address the obstacles and challenges faced by New York families.

The New York State Assembly passed the Women’s Equality Act (A.8070) on January 27, 2014. This was the second year that the Assembly passed this groundbreaking legislation that would help provide the women of New York State with protection from discrimination and injustice. Last year, the Assembly passed the Women’s Equality Act, only to have the State Senate fail to pass the same legislation.

New Careerist Competition recognizes the accomplishments of women between the ages of 21 and 32 who have been employed full time for a minimum of one year and maximum of three years in their career area and provides them with professional development skills and opportunities.

January 27, 2014 - The New York Women's Equality coalition is pleased that our legislature has taken the first step in making the Women's Equality Agenda a reality in New York this year, and we applaud the Assembly Democrats, Speaker Silver, and all those members who voted yes today, for putting women's equality at the top of their 2014 agenda.

Happy 25th Anniversary to the NY Grace LeGendre Endowment Fund, Inc., which was established in March 1989 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation to provide a permanent funding source to support fellowships, research and training for New York State women. Through 2013, over $138,000 has been awarded in fellowships to NYS women who are candidates for Master's or doctoral degrees at colleges and universities throughout New York State. Again this year, four fellowships of $1500 each will be awarded in April 2014. Applications are available now and must be postmarked by February 28, 2014.
