Chadwick Bay Chapter - May Installation of Officers

The Chadwick Bay Chapter held their May installation of officers at Manning’s Fireside Manor on May 22nd at 6:30 PM. Mary Stelley, treasurer for New York State Women Inc. was the installing officer. Donnie Hover was installed as President, Christine Storer as first VP, Karen Crowe as second VP, Connie Wojcinski as Recording Secretary, Tanya Burns as treasurer, Nancy Steffan as Corresponding Secretary,. Guests included Sandi Gawlak a retired teacher and Judith Einach who is running for state assembly. Both women became members at last night’s dinner.

It began with a small group of New York visionaries sipping tea and imagining an America where women shared equal rights with men. They set into motion a national campaign that spanned seven decades and gave way to the eventual securing the right for women to vote.

Staten Island Unites ‘Sisterhood’

Sisterhood organizations participated in a fair and by presenting as a panelist or guest speaker at workshops. The women of the Sisterhood presented on positions in business, health, environmental science and government and other topics such as “You are the Architect of Your Life,” by Naomi Jones, Life Coach; “Brave Enough to Succeed,” by Fran Reali; “Dressing for Success,” by Rosemarie Cavanaugh , Nutritionist; “Non-traditional jobs in STEM,” by Katia Gordon , Director, SI Regional and Community Affairs, Con Edison; Financial Information for High School Students,” by Joan Wilton, Financial Advisor; and “Social Media Marketing.”

Athena Society Name Change/Athena’s Bra Project

On October 14th at the October Board of Director’s meeting held in Geneva, NY, members came together to support not just an awesome project to help women veterans, they also approved a name change for the Athena Society. The Board voted to rename the program the Athena Military Women’s Initiative.
