Come join the Chadwick Bay Chapter for our Christmas Dinner on December 15, 2015 at 6:30 pm. Joyce will read comical passages pertaining to the season.

Bingo Night at the WCA in Fredonia

We will be playing bingo with the senior women in this retirement home. We provide prizes for the women which may include puzzles, jewelry, stamps and stationary.
Workplace Advancement Act vs Paycheck Fairness Act

As early as next week, your Senators will get a chance to vote on the so-called "Workplace Advancement Act." Conservatives are claiming it's an equal pay bill — but in reality, it would do more harm than good for women.

October Meeting Wrap up

What an amazing weekend we had in Syracuse for the October Meeting. The weekend was full of laughing, networking, learning and education. It was so great to see so many women helping and supporting each other. Everyone was so positive and supportive. I think everyone left the meeting re-energized to move this organization to the next level.

General Election Day is November 3rd

Tuesday, November 3, 2015 is general election day in New York. All registered voters are eligible to vote during the general election. The 2015 elections will be for local offices only. There is one special election for a statewide office this year in the Binghamton, NY area. The former Senator for the area, Senator Tom Libous, was convicted on federal charges and forced to resign his seat. This left an opening, and the Governor called a special election for this election to fill the vacant seat.

Special Grants from NY Grace Legendre Fund Inc.

In 2014, the NY Grace Legendre Fund Inc., a 501©(3) non for profit corporation, began awarding Special Grants to organizations in order to sponsor educational or research opportunities which would further the advancement of working women.

Buffalo Niagara Chapter - Celebrate 2015/2016 Women in Leadership!

The Buffalo Niagara Chapter of NYS Women, Inc. and WKBW-TV will recognize our 2015/2016 Women in Leadership at this annual dinner.  Channel 7 News anchor Joanna Pasceri will help us honor the accomplishments of these twelve Western New York women who give back to the community. This marks the fourth year that the Women in Leadership program has honored Western New York's “unsung heroines.” The evening’s celebration will also include the chapter’s officer installation.

Buffalo Niagara Chapter - The Women from Buffalo and Western New York Who Were "First"

March is Women’s History Month and we will showcase the women from our region who were the “first.” Did you know Louise Bethune was the first American woman to have worked as a professional architect? (She designed Buffalo’s Hotel Lafayette.) Discover Anna Katharine Green, “the mother of the detective novel” and many other women local women who broke new territory. We’ll also feature St. Bonaventure University’s “March Madness” women’s handicapping contest.

Follow Your Bliss: Changing Your Career

Local jazz singer Mari McNeil left a corporate position to enter the music field; we’ll explore her career travels. According to a 2014 The Buffalo News article, Mari’s “musical journey has included a transition from 12 years (and two albums) of folk to her current four-year-old journey into jazz standards and hidden gems.”
