It hasn’t been that long since a woman has been able to have her own credit card. The Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974 granted a woman the right to have a credit card in her own name – which translated into an unprecedented degree of independence for women. Feminists and advocates for women’s equal rights, including New York State Women, Inc., fought hard for this basic right – enabling women’s financial freedom.

Eowyn Hewey accepted a Member of the Month award on behalf of the St. Lawrence Chapter of NYS Women Inc. at the Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce Annual Luncheon.

On Saturday October 15, 2017 in Watkins Glen, the NYS Women Southern Finger Lakes Women Chapter held a Youth Leadership event. Youth Leadership is a NYS Women Inc. program that helps high school girls learn about college life and real world experiences.

This year’s goal for the Nominating Committee will be to pursue nominations from the entire membership for the 2017-2018 election at the annual State Conference.
