The Staten Island Chapter as part of its Women Helping Women program will be presenting a donation of $1000 to Wishes of Literacy to continue to raise awareness of dyslexia in children.

Representatives from organizations concerned with the welfare of women and families gathered as a ‘Sisterhood’ to work together throughout the year pooling their talents and resources and volunteer their time to foster positive change. Each year a different organization leads the Sisterhood of Women’s Organizations.

Join Staten Island Chapter for their Holiday Party to help raise funds for those in need.

This season, come to the table and share Thanksgiving with our community. The Staten Island Chapter will be adopting three families in need and will be providing all of the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Each of our members are invited to participate by donating items. Most of us have been blessed, and this is the season to share with those less fortunate.

Join Chadwick Bay Chapter on October 26, 2017 for their Committee Meeting in regards to the Getaway Weekend event. Committee meeting will be held to finalize seminars and ready brochure for November mailing.

Athena Society Name Change/Athena’s Bra Project

On October 14th at the October Board of Director’s meeting held in Geneva, NY, members came together to support not just an awesome project to help women veterans, they also approved a name change for the Athena Society. The Board voted to rename the program the Athena Military Women’s Initiative.

While 51% of the U.S. population is female, women make up only 18% of the U.S. Congress. So, the question becomes: How can we get qualified women to say “YES, I want to run for office.”? Diana Cihak, founder of WE PAC, will discuss coaching on the unique skills required of candidates for elected office. Her political action committee focuses on fundraising, public speaking, image development, press/media relations, and leadership development.
