Are you part of the “sandwich generation” – caring for an elderly relative while still managing a household with children? Or are you considering your own living options – retirement communities, assisted living, or “aging in place” and renovating to make your own home senior-friendly? Please join us for an in-depth conversation about elder care transitions with our speaker, Roxanne Sorensen, owner of Elder Care Solutions of WNY, is an Aging Life Care Specialist.  After she gives us an overview of the current climate in elder care we’ll open up for a lively Q&A!

Since earning a bachelor’s degree in social work from Daemen College, Roxanne Sorenson has focused her entire career in the area of geriatrics. She started as a social worker at area nursing homes and furthered her education with a master’s degree in counseling from Canisius College.

Roxanne went on to work at People, Inc., where she held positions in the areas of senior housing, case management, social adult day program, and marketing for the Senior Service Department. After a successful career at People, Inc., she opened a geriatric care management company, Elder Care Solutions of WNY, in 2008.

Roxanne is an aging life specialist, a licensed mental health counselor, certified care manager, and holds two certifications in geriatrics through the National Association of Social Workers. She specializes in benefits, including Medicaid and veterans benefits, entitlements, insurances, and housing options.

Sorensen is active with several organizations, including the Network in Aging, Council on Elder Abuse, Erie County Caregiver Coalition, Niagara County Connects Long Term Care Advisory Council, Aging Life Care Association New York State Chapter Board, Niagara County Elder Abuse Council, and the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners).
