Summer has ended and it is time for us to get back in the swing of things and begin anew our mission to build powerful women personally, professionally and politically. The New Careerist Program is a great place to start. Has your Chapter reviewed the guidelines yet? If not, please do, they are located on the State website. Keep your eye out for a Chapter member or potential member who will qualify and needs your mentoring skills to bring her personal, professional and political skills to the next level.

New York State Women, Inc. New Careerist Program is a mentoring program wherein the Chapter recognizes a member or potential member who meets the criteria as a Candidate to the Speech Competitions and develops a mentoring partnership with another member or members to develop the public speaking skills necessary to compete at a Chapter, Region and State Speech Competition.

The New York State New Careerist Program Speech Competitions should be fun for participants, organizers and spectators. The Candidates should understand that they are not expected to perform at an expert level but that the experience should be a learning experience which helps the Candidates to grow personally and professionally. At each level of competition, their mentors should critique their skills, offer constructive criticism, nurture their strengths and guide them so that the learning experience helps their individual personal, professional and political growth.

New York State Women, Inc. New Careerist Program Speech Competition recognizes the accomplishments of women between the ages of 21 and 32 who have been employed full time for a minimum of one year in their career area but less than 3 years and provides them with professional development skills and opportunities. New York State Women, Inc. New Careerist Program Speech Competition involves a competitive selection process within Chapter organizations, Regions and the State competition. Selection is based on written and biographical information, judge’s interviews, group interaction, the Candidates ability to help others achieve and prepared speech competition on specifically chosen topics.
