Cyber security threats are being becoming worse all the time. You can protect yourself from being a victim. Renee Cerullo, owner of RLComputing, will present a virtual workshop on how to protect yourself and what to look out for. She has been in the IT industry for 25 yrs. She has seen it all from beeping computers (literally a fire alarm going off on your computer)  to entire servers encrypted by hackers. Everyone can take some basic steps to protect themselves and their companies. The best practices talked about in the presentation will relate to personal and business computer usage and will apply to everyone!

Topics that will be covered:

  • Email Phishing - spot fake emails easily
  • Secure Web Sites
  • Antivirus Software
  • Computer Maintenance
  • HIPAA/PHI Information - protect your medical and personal information

Renee Cerullo was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She got her BS in Computer Information Systems from Buffalo State College and her MA in Informatics from the University of Buffalo. She worked for UB for 10 years as a web designer and as an Adjunct Professor. She taught web design and information architecture classes. She also taught at Niagara University and Bryant & Stratton. In 2014 she graduated from the UB Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Core Program.

In 2000 she started her company RLComputing to help companies grow their business with technology. She has passion for working with non-profits and start up companies where she can help them get started easier by using technology. Her passion for this industry came from her grandfather. He got one of the first "personal computers " at home. He would always show her what he coded when she was over. Little did he know he was coding something very similar to the Windows operating system!
