Bay Ridge Brooklyn Chapter of NYSWI awards Scholarships to two Brooklyn Women

Author: Communications Committee/Friday, July 19, 2013/Categories: General

At its June meeting, the Bay Ridge Brooklyn Chapter of New York State Women, Inc. awarded scholarships to two Brooklyn women attending CUNY colleges. In line with the goal of supporting professional development for women, the Chapter annually awards a scholarship to a Brooklyn resident who is attending college within NYC with preference given to candidates who are working women or those who have returned to school.

Two scholarship grants were awarded this year: Karen Menzie of Baruch College was awarded the annual Bay Ridge Brooklyn Chapter Scholarship Grant and Gina Abdulahad of Brooklyn College, was awarded the Anne Le Blanc Memorial Scholarship Grant (named in memory of a long-time member of the Chapter). Scholarship Chair Catherine La Grutta presented each with a one thousand dollar check to help support their studies.

Isabel Rodriguez, a prior recipient of a Scholarship Grant from the Chapter, was also invited to the meeting and she updated the group on her educational activities and plans for graduate school.
