Chadwick Bay Chapter is Celebrating 75 Years

The Chadwick Bay Chapter of NYS Women Inc. is celebrating our 75th year as an organization that is instrumental in the Dunkirk – Fredonia community. In 1942, twenty-two women banded together to form Business and Professional Women of Dunkirk Fredonia. These visionaries encouraged local business and professional women to join the organization for personal and professional growth. Their mission was to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.

CNY Chapter Grant Information

The local CNY chapter, is offering 1-$500.00 grant to an adult woman residing in Oswego, Madison or Onondaga County in financial need who is returning to school as a result of corporate downsizing, a change in family structure (i.e. separation, divorce or death) or to qualify for higher earnings opportunities to specifically pursue an education in the medical and/or health sciences field.

Staten Island Chapter Recognizes "Women of Distinction"

More than 200 hundred joined the Staten Island Chapter as they honored eight local women as Women of Distinction at their annual ceremony and luncheon in April at LiGreci’s Staaten, Staten Island.

From Whence We Have Come... Financially Speaking
It hasn’t been that long since a woman has been able to have her own credit card. The Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974 granted a woman the right to have a credit card in her own name – which translated into an unprecedented degree of independence for women. Feminists and advocates for women’s equal rights, including New York State Women, Inc., fought hard for this basic right – enabling women’s financial freedom.
