The St. Lawrence County Chapter honored 60 year member Patricia McGrath

Author: Communications Committee/Saturday, May 27, 2017/Categories: General, Chapter News

The St. Lawrence County Chapter honored 60 year member Patricia McGrath, at their May 2017 meeting. She was greeted with flowers and a cake for her 60 years of service to both BPW and NYSW Inc. The local reporter attended and then featured her in an article in the local Newspaper, the Courier-Observer.

Patricia joined BPW when she was an administrative assistant to the manager of the Reynolds Metals Plant in Massena. She stated that the goals of both women’s organizations were pretty comparable; in elevating the standards for women in business and the professions, and bringing about a spirit of cooperation among business and professional women in the United States, along with extending opportunities to business and professional women through education along lines of industrial, scientific and vocational activities. At that time in 1957, there were 78 members in the organization. Back then, Pat said “women were just coming out of the home and into their own”.
