March Message from the President

Author: Communications Committee/Thursday, February 23, 2012/Categories: General

Our March Meeting, March 2-4, 2012, at the Radisson Hotel, Corning, NY, ably hosted by District VII, is nearly upon us, and will present more opportunities for members to express their ideas and opinions and vote on changes to our bylaws and structure. We will welcome at least 16 young women to our Youth Leadership Program, a program designed to provide high school students with knowledge and experiences that will expose them to opportunities and challenges that they may face in their future.

As a reminder and at risk of repeating myself, this meeting will feature workshops on: the current legislation pertaining to Domestic Violence, as well as the processes and procedures for taking political action; life planning for women of all ages; Public Relations and their successful upgrades to our presentation via our website and their plans to enhance communication to our members and potential members; and elements of Membership Building. The Strategic Planning Committee will conduct another workshop to move us further along into the next phase of proposed changes to our organization’s structure and policies. The Bylaws Committee will present additional proposed changes and has been diligently working on an updated version of our bylaws. Our Manual of Instructions Committee will present additional revisions to our policies and procedures. The Legislation and Advocacy Committee has prepared a presentation on their work to date. Other members of our Board of Directors and Committees will also take to the podium to update us on our current status. Members in attendance will also hear speakers on the topics of Domestic Violence and Women in the Military. Entertainment at our Saturday cocktail hour will feature a military women’s song and dance troupe.

If you have not yet decided to attend, please consider being there.  Please note the changes in the times for the 1st Board of Directors Business Session (9:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and the Special Meeting (2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.). If there are any needs not being met by this schedule of events, please e-mail me or see me at the meeting. If you need time on the agenda, I need to know prior to the start of the 1st Business Session. So far, the list of committees that will present during the hearing includes: Finance; Bylaws; Strategic Planning; MOI; and Legislation & Advocacy. If I have left anyone out, I apologize and just need to know that you have or are requesting time during the meeting.
